Muhurat Finder — शुभ मुहूर्त खोजें
Find the most auspicious Shubh Muhurat for your important occasion — marriage, griha pravesh, mundan, vehicle purchase, business opening and more. Free Vedic muhurat calculator using the same Meeus + Lahiri Ayanamsa engine as our Panchang. Select your event, date range and city.
This tool scans every day in your chosen date range, computes the full Vedic Panchang for each day using the same Meeus + Lahiri Ayanamsa engine as our Daily Panchang, and scores each date against traditional muhurat rules for your specific occasion. Results are ranked by auspiciousness and show the best time window within each day, along with a plain-language explanation of why the date is or isn't ideal.
How is a Muhurat scored?
Each date is scored on five factors: (1) Nakshatra quality for the occasion, (2) Tithi quality, (3) Vara (weekday) suitability, (4) Yoga — Siddha, Shubha, and Amrit yogas earn bonus points; Vishkamba, Vyatipata, Parigha, Ganda, Vajra and Vaidhriti are penalised, (5) Avoidance of Rahu Kaal, Gulika Kaal and Yamaganda during the best time window. If you select a Rashi, Chandra Balam — the Moon's relationship to your natal sign — adds a sixth factor.
What is Chandra Balam and why does it matter?
Chandra Balam means "strength of the Moon." It compares the Moon's current rashi to your birth rashi. When the Moon is in the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th or 11th position from your birth rashi, it is considered to give you strength and support for the occasion. Muhurats that fall during a favourable Chandra Balam position are personalised specifically to you — not just universally auspicious, but auspicious for your chart.
Which Nakshatras are best for marriage?
The classic Vivah Nakshatras are Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati. Ashwini, Pushya, Punarvasu and Shravana are also acceptable. Ardra, Jyeshtha, Vishakha (4th pada), Bharani, Krittika (1st pada), Ashlesha and the three Shatabhisha are generally avoided for marriage muhurat.
Which Tithis are considered inauspicious?
Rikta Tithis — Chaturthi (4th), Navami (9th), and Chaturdashi (14th) — are generally avoided for auspicious events. Amavasya (new moon) is avoided for almost all muhurat occasions. Ashtami (8th) is avoided for griha pravesh and marriage. Purnima (full moon) and Ekadashi (11th) are generally auspicious. The tool weights all of these automatically.
Is this as accurate as a paid astrologer?
For daily reference and shortlisting, yes — this tool matches what Drik Panchang and similar platforms show. For hyper-precise muhurat timing (e.g., the exact minute to begin wedding rituals), a professional astrologer using Swiss Ephemeris and your full birth charts for both families will give a more complete picture. Think of this tool as a powerful shortlist — it will find you the correct dates; a Jyotishi can then refine the exact time.
